If you're a fan of the Coast to Coast radio program, you'll definitely want to see Men Who Stare at Goats, and you won't have any trouble believing that every bit of it is true.
You probably just didn't know they were making a movie about some of the same stories you've been hearing on the show for years. Fans of the radio program are already very familiar with remote viewing and how the US government has used it in the past. The great thing about this movie is that even those who already know the story should get a big kick out of the film as well.
Long-time listeners might remember when the author of the book, Jon Ronson, was a guest on Coast to Coast in 2005. Details of the show are easily found on the show's website in the past show archives. Little did he know, at the time, that four of the biggest names in Hollywood would be collaborating in the coming years to tell the story on film.
Whether or not anyone could have predicted it would be a comedy is anyone's guess (unless you're a remote viewer yourself, I suppose).
Names, of course, and some other details were changed for the movie, but other than that, it's all as Ronson told it. Thankfully, by enticing George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey into heading up a remarkable cast, the story may get some long overdue attention.
Seriously, could they have made this film any more likeable? If the trailer is any indication, it's doubtful. No matter what your politics are, there is sure to be something there to appeal to even the biggest conspiracy theorist. Jeff Bridges' role here is the closest thing to date reprising his role as The Dude in The Big Lebowski. There's more, though, to get excited about in Clooney's depiction of the former psychic warrior/weapon with a Star Wars Jedi thing. Kevin Spacey has to be the best bad guy ever, and Ewan McGregor is .........well, he's just cool, as always.
But reading about it cannot possibly do the film justice. Even if you're not usually one for watching movie trailers on the internet, trust me. More specifically, trust hulu.com, which is where I found the trailer, and also the only place that I really feel safe clicking on that little 'play' arrow.
